And it's August!

Whew! July went by fast! Here's our recent kid news:

Caleb is having a lot of success at potty training. Honestly, some days are better than others but typically Caleb only has one accident a day. For the past two days he's had no accidents and has started telling us when he needs to go. Yay! Caleb's favorite book is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. He can "read" almost the entire book by himself. He's also learning to spell his name at school--he definitely knows the C, B, and L, but has trouble remembering the A and thinks that the E is "three". So right now Caleb spells his name "C-L-3-B" and only when strongly encouraged and assisted.
Caleb is looking forward to a week-long trip to Minnesota with Grandma and Grandpa Hammi next week. Weather-permitting, Caleb should get to ride horses, swim in lakes, and just generally do all that outdoorsy stuff that kids should be doing in the summer. Mommy and Daddy are looking forward to a week with only one child to care for--it will be a mini-vacation for us!

Noah is two months old now, and weighed 12 pounds, 12 ounces at his checkup this week. He smiles a lot, provided he is fed and changed! He's currently interested in sucking on his fingers and cooing at people. Here's a smile, sort of--I tried very hard to get Noah to smile for the camera and he did--but he could not be deterred from chewing on his hands so his smile got covered up every time!

Caleb and Noah had the rare opportunity to watch a video together a few weeks ago when Caleb was home sick. Mommy needed to get some work done! Anyway, they look pretty cute together watching Noah's video (it's all floating colored balls, music, and strange random things that are only interesting to babies. I have NO idea why Caleb wanted to watch it--you'd think he'd be bored!)

Noah is still sleeping a lot during the day, but thankfully he only wakes at night once or twice. He likes to cuddle with blankets and other things that appear to be blankets (it's a burp cloth):

Caleb has obviously noticed me trying to take more pictures lately, because when I took out the camera the other day and sat down near him on the couch, he said "don't ask me to say cheese, mommy." Okay, so I didn't. Instead, I said "say oodles of noodles!" and he did! Here's the picture:

Last but not least, Noah was baptized last weekend. He was a very good boy for the whole ceremony, even when the water went into his eyes! I don't have any pictures of Noah from the baptism yet, since I was busy. But I do have a picture of Noah's cake from the reception--that will have to do until I get some pictures from friends or family. In related news, Mark performed at Noah's baptism service. He sang "You Raise Me Up" while accompanying himself on piano. It was very beautiful.
