Happy Halloween!

Since I neglected my Family Friday last night, here is a Family Friday post AND a book recommendation for Story Saturday!

First, the book recommendation. In keeping with the spirit of the holiday, I am recommending to all parents out there--check out The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin. We own this book and not only does it come with a cd telling the story (which is great in the car if you have a car cd player) but it's a lovely tale about a pumpkin who is shaped all wrong. I won't spoil the story for you, but the book teaches a great lesson about acceptance and how everyone has a purpose and how we shouldn't judge people.
Next, here are our Halloween pictures! We might have a few more once we get Grandma and Grandpa Hammie's photos, but here's what we have from yesterday and today.

Noah loves to stomp, and last night at the Children's museum for their Halloween celebration, I got a great picture of it! Noah was a Knight this year for Halloween (specifically Saint George, but most people missed the connection--Caleb was a dragon...)

And here is a good picture of Caleb the dragon, at the Children's museum last night. Caleb was excited to get to trick-or-treat THREE times this week. I think some of the candy may have to be donated to my students at work!

And last but not least, here are our pumpkins for this year. Last year we did one pumpkin as a Mr. Potato Head pumpkin--it was so easy and so very little mess that we decided to do ALL our pumpkins with Mr. Potato Head parts this year. (From left to right: Caleb's pumpkin, Noah's pumpkin, Kathie's pumpkin, and Mark's pumpkin) Noah's didn't look much like him because he got the leftover parts to work with (it was either mustache guy or a girl pumpkin).

Hope everyone had a great time! Don't forget to snag your extra hour of sleep tonight!
